Nicolas Cage plays prison gang leader Carter Briggs, opposite Alexander Ludwig as Taylor Hartman. Gabriel Basso and Maria Bakalova are also attached. The film is produced by Identity Media in association with Gramercy Park Media. Pre-production is planned for early 2027, with no confirmed release date.

Nicolas Cage to Play a Prison Gang Leader in The Brand, a Crime Thriller Based on David Grann's Investigation

Nicolas Cage is attached to star as Carter Briggs, the leader of a powerful white supremacist prison gang, in The Brand. Based on David Grann's investigative reporting for The New Yorker, the crime thriller will also feature Alexander Ludwig as a young prisoner drawn into the gang's hierarchy, alongside Gabriel Basso and Maria Bakalova. Vincent Grashaw will direct from Alessandro Camon's screenplay. The film is moving toward international sales and planned pre-production after more than a decade in development.
