Ubisoft Singapore-led remake of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, rebuilding Edward Kenway's adventure with the modern Anvil engine, new content and reworked gameplay systems.
Three million copies in seven days is a large launch by any useful definition. It is also not a profit statement. Ubisoft has given Black Flag Resynced a strong unit-sales headline while leaving most of the figures needed to judge the remake's economics private.
Resynced mostly confirms that Edward Kenway's story never needed rescuing. It still works because its hero approaches the Assassin world through self-interest before learning, painfully, what his version of freedom costs. The remake makes that journey more spectacular and direct, but losing Abstergo removes an important layer of the 2013 Black Flag.
