Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is fundamentally Estelle Bright's story once Joshua is no longer beside her to carry part of the emotional weight. Their separation slows the opening and some critics deeply miss their partnership, but it also gives Estelle the space required to become the unquestioned center of her own narrative. Ouroboros gradually expands a personal search into a national crisis without abandoning the relationships that made the first chapter work. The supporting cast, constantly changing NPC dialogue and committed English performances give this enormous JRPG unusual warmth. Several arcs drag, but the emotional payoffs explain why this second chapter still commands such affection two decades after its original story was written.
