The images were unveiled on September 8 during Prime Video's Obsessed Retreat: Class of '26, an event built around the service's expanding young-adult slate.
Boys of Tommen enters that strategy with unusually strong source material recognition. The novels became an international publishing phenomenon, and Season 1 is already confirmed to combine Binding 13 and Keeping 13 rather than stretching the first book across an entire season.
The first look introduces the pressure before the romance
Nancy Surridge plays Shannon Lynch, the painfully shy new student at Tommen College in fictional Ballylaggin, Ireland. Her private life is defined by instability and violence at home.
Conor Sánchez is Johnny Kavanagh, Tommen's rugby star and a young athlete moving toward a potential professional career while hiding an injury that could end it.
Prime Video's first two production stills keep them physically apart. Shannon sits alone in her bedroom looking toward a window. Johnny walks away from teammates on a rugby field. Before selling the central couple, the campaign is establishing the separate problems that make their connection meaningful.
Two books give Season 1 a complete central arc
Binding 13 and Keeping 13 form the core Shannon-and-Johnny story, making them an obvious pair for the television adaptation's opening season.
The structure also leaves room for the larger design of Walsh's series. Later novels shift attention toward other members of the same social group instead of treating Shannon and Johnny as permanent sole protagonists.
That helps explain why James O'Donoghue and Sophie McGibbon are already being marketed alongside the leads. O'Donoghue plays Shannon's troubled but fiercely loyal brother Joey Lynch, while McGibbon plays Aoife Molloy.
Prime has been casting a world rather than just a couple
Director Brendan Canty says the production received more than 3,000 casting suggestions from across the UK and Ireland while searching for the core characters.
The resulting ensemble has continued growing. Amelia May is Claire Biggs, Alex Dunne plays Hugh Biggs, John Hewson is Gerard Gibson, Indy Lewis plays Lizzie Young, Dixie Egerickx is Katie Wilmot, Jamie Schneider plays Patrick Feely, James Craven is Pierce O'Neill, Daisy Jacob plays Bella Wilkinson, Jonathan Heed is Cormac Ryan and Cathal Ó Síocháin plays Ronan McGarry.
The adult cast includes Eoin Macken as Teddy Lynch, Róisín Gallagher as Marie Lynch, Amy Huberman as Edel Kavanagh, Jonathan Forbes as John Senior Kavanagh and Tristan Heanue as Tony Molloy.
The adaptation has darker material to carry than its romance branding suggests
Prime Video describes Boys of Tommen as a sweeping romantic drama, but Amazon MGM Studios has repeatedly highlighted the material surrounding that romance: abuse, bullying, mental health, trauma and resilience.
Those subjects are not decorative complications around the central pairing. They are part of why the novels generated such intense attachment, and television will have to preserve that emotional weight without turning the series into either sanitized school romance or relentless misery.
Poppy Cogan serves as lead writer and executive producer after work including A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Author Chloe Walsh is also an executive producer.
The production is leaning into its Irish identity
Brendan Canty directs the series and has described the project as especially personal because he grew up in Cork, the region that informs Walsh's fictional setting.
wiip produces in association with Amazon MGM Studios, Temple Hill and Drama Republic, with Metropolitan providing local production services.
That local grounding fits a larger Prime Video strategy. At the September event, Amazon emphasized international Originals capable of traveling globally without abandoning the cultural specificity that initially defines them.
This is part of a much larger romance pipeline
The timing of the reveal makes Amazon's intentions difficult to miss. Boys of Tommen was presented inside an event devoted to Prime Video's largest YA slate yet.
The service already has Maxton Hall, Off Campus and the Culpables adaptations among its romance properties. Boys of Tommen offers another version of the same useful industrial equation: a proven reading audience, recognizable characters and enough source material to extend beyond a single season if viewers follow.
The producing pedigree is being used almost as branding in its own right, with Prime linking the project to teams behind The Summer I Turned Pretty, Off Campus and Twilight.
There is still no premiere date
Production is underway, and Prime Video says Boys of Tommen will eventually stream exclusively in more than 240 countries and territories.
The company has not announced a release date, premiere window or trailer. The new stills are therefore a first visual confirmation rather than evidence of how the finished show will handle pace, tone or the novels' heavier material.
What Amazon already possesses is the part streaming platforms usually spend heavily trying to manufacture after launch: a fandom waiting before episode one exists.
The harder job begins with turning that anticipation into a series readers recognize without making Boys of Tommen feel designed only for people who already know every page.
