Emily in Paris is officially past the point where its ending exists only as a future announcement. Netflix confirmed on Sept. 18 that filming on Season 6 had finished, closing a production journey that began seven years ago.

Lily Collins and creator Darren Star marked the final day in Paris, returning to Place de l'Estrapade, one of the locations most closely associated with the beginning of Emily's French life. The series itself premiered on Netflix in October 2020.

One last European detour

Season 6 began filming in Greece, moved through Monaco and ultimately returned to Paris. The first official images have already shown Emily in Greece, including a reunion with Gabriel after the postcard he sent at the end of Season 5.

Creator Darren Star has been clear that the show is not abandoning its home city. Paris remains the center of Emily's story, even as the final season turns the wider European travel fantasy into a larger part of the farewell.

The finale still owes Emily a decision

Season 5 deliberately stopped short of giving its lead a neat romantic destination. Emily ended her relationship with Marcello rather than build a quieter life around his family business, choosing Paris and her career instead.

The final season now puts another set of decisions in front of her. Netflix says changing relationships and career conflicts will force Emily to decide what she actually wants from the life she has built.

Lucas Bravo returns as Gabriel, Ashley Park as Mindy, Lucien Laviscount as Alfie and Paul Forman as Nicolas. Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie and Minnie Driver are also among the returning cast.

For Lily Collins, the goodbye is unusually literal

Collins used the end of production to look back on seven years with the character and described the experience as something that permanently changed her. There is an obvious difference between announcing that a season will be the last and actually walking away from its final set.

The photographs from Paris lean directly into that feeling. Collins sits in a director's chair marked “Fin,” while Star appears with another on the street where much of Emily's story first took shape.

Christmas Eve is the final date

Netflix will release Season 6 on Dec. 24, placing the show's farewell squarely in the holiday schedule. Darren Star remains creator and executive producer, while Paramount Television Studios, Darren Star Productions and Jax Media produce alongside Collins.

There are no more filming locations left to announce now. Greece, Monaco and Paris were the last three.
