Mission Delta is now one of the six digital winners of the PAX Aus 2026 Indie Showcase. Polarity Games will exhibit the project in Melbourne from October 9 to 11.

Mellor says presenting one of his own games at PAX has been a long-standing ambition.

Polarity Games is still built around a very small core

The Melbourne studio was founded by Mellor in 2024 with a focus on retro games designed to be played online with friends.

Mission Delta is its debut project. According to the official press kit, most of the game was developed over more than three years by a core team of three people, with additional contributors helping along the way.

Several members have continued working other full-time or part-time jobs during production. Mellor himself works at Massive Monster on Cult of the Lamb while running Polarity Games separately.

The game returning to PAX is substantially more defined

Mission Delta now advertises six playable characters, more than 60 weapons, over 30 weapon fusions and 80-plus upgrades and items.

It supports one to four players with both online and shared or split-screen co-op.

Screen Australia is also listed as a project sponsor.

Its corporate villain has supplied the main mechanic

Delta Corp experiments on humans and animals in pursuit of what it considers a perfect being. Escaped subjects fight back by climbing through the company's skyscraper from its sewer levels to the executive floors.

The corporation's Fusion Machine can combine objects, organic life and machinery. In gameplay, the same technology is turned into the weapon-fusion system.

It is a fairly efficient piece of indie world-building: the upgrade mechanic and the company's questionable research programme come from the same fictional machine.

The Showcase arrives before a release date

PAX Aus describes its Indie Showcase as a judged programme giving selected Australian developers exhibition space in the main hall. The 2026 selection contains six digital projects and six tabletop games.

Mission Delta still has no launch date or announced price. Polarity Games currently lists Windows, Linux and macOS as target platforms, with worldwide availability planned.

English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese are listed in the official press kit.

The project that was considered too early for the Showcase in 2024 will finally be playable there in October 2026.
