Ace Combat 8 Turns Its Silent Pilot Into the Center of a Propaganda War
Wings of Theve succeeds most when it gives the lonely ace fantasy an actual crew. Its manufactured-hero and wartime-propaganda story provides Ace Combat 8 with a more personal backbone, even when cutscenes linger or dialogue underlines its own point. The melodrama remains unmistakably Ace Combat; this time, its characters give it more weight.
