Dragon Shelter: Wonderful Dragons in a Village Desperately Short on Personality

By Yasmine

Dragon Shelter has the setup for a small story about repair: restoring a farm, a village and a forgotten relationship with dragons. It even has the perfect creatures for it. What is missing is a cast capable of making that restoration emotionally necessary. The village becomes prettier long before its people become genuinely interesting.

PROS

Simple but immediately readable premise built around restoration and returning hope
Expressive dragons whose animation communicates more personality than much of the dialogue
The village's gradual visual transformation is satisfying

CONS

Several reviews describe villagers as flat, grumpy or little more than quest dispensers
Protagonist memories and dialogue remain underdeveloped
