Pokémon Legends: Z-A — Lumiose Boxes Pokémon In and Lets Its People Breathe

By Vever

Pokémon Legends: Z-A makes a curious trade: it shrinks the world to give one place more room to exist. Lumiose does not always have the visual detail its ambition deserves, but its characters, factions and connection to X and Y give it an identity Pokémon often disperses between routes. It is a more urban, imperfect and unexpectedly thoughtful return to Kalos.

PROS

Lumiose becomes a genuine narrative setting rather than another stop on a journey
Different social groups give the city a stronger identity
The game works as a continuation of X and Y without relying entirely on nostalgia

CONS

Districts lack visual variety despite their narrative differences
The absence of voice acting weakens some more ambitious scenes
