Our review

Resonance gives Sophia a tragedy of her own without living in Amicia's shadow

By Yasmine

Resonance could easily have become an extended footnote explaining Sophia's past and the origins of the Macula. Instead, it works as a largely self-contained adventure. Sophia gains a childhood, wounds, friendships and an obsession that give real weight to the person players later meet in Requiem. The Minoan mythology gives the game a strong narrative and visual identity, even if that choice pushes A Plague Tale further away from the historical grounding of Innocence. A few convenient plot devices remain, but they do not undermine a story whose real value comes from Sophia herself rather than from setting up another franchise chapter.

PROS

Sophia works as a complete protagonist rather than a promoted supporting character
Her relationship with Leni brings warmth and friction to the journey
The medieval/Minoan dual narrative expands the Macula mythology

CONS

The stronger fantasy direction reduces the historical specificity that distinguished Innocence
Some dialogue sounds unusually contemporary for the setting
