The Witcher 3 Remastered Doesn't Rewrite Geralt, and That's Exactly What Needed Preserving

By Yasmine

The remaster understands that the part of The Witcher 3 least in need of repair was its writing. Geralt still searches for Ciri through the same brutal, funny and morally uncomfortable world, and the years have done little to weaken the characters giving that hunt its weight. Modernization serves the story rather than replacing it. A genuinely new story will have to wait for Songs of the Past in 2027.

PROS

The original narrative is preserved without opportunistic rewriting
Geralt, Ciri and the supporting cast remain remarkably well realized
Moral choices retain their ambiguity and consequences

CONS

No new narrative content specific to the remaster
Some animations still reveal the age of individual scenes
