Amazon updated its official Off Campus guide on September 11 after Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli sent a message from the Season 2 set to the Off Campus YA Retreat.
Filming is therefore underway, although Prime Video has not announced a premiere date.
Allie and Dean are no longer the side story
Mika Abdalla returns as Allie Hayes with Stephen Kalyn as Dean Di Laurentis. Their relationship began during Season 1 and will become the central romance of the second run.
That creates an interesting adaptation wrinkle. Elle Kennedy's second Off-Campus novel, The Mistake, belongs to John Logan and Grace Ivers. Dean and Allie lead the third book, The Score.
The television series is therefore not simply adapting the novels in publication order. It already pulled parts of Dean and Allie's relationship forward during Season 1, making their promotion to leads a continuation of material television viewers have actually seen.
Louisa Levy previously explained that introducing them early felt organic because Allie was already Hannah's best friend while Dean was already living inside Garrett's hockey-house orbit.
Season 1's couple remains part of the machine
Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli are both returning as Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham.
That is a deliberate structural choice. The showrunners have said they do not want previous couples to disappear once their main romantic arc is complete.
Off Campus can change who receives the most narrative attention without resetting the ensemble every year. That makes Briar University itself more important as the connective tissue.
Amazon's early renewal suddenly looks much less risky
Prime Video ordered Season 2 before Season 1 had premiered, betting on Elle Kennedy's readership and the broader appetite for young-adult romance.
The first twelve days produced 36 million viewers worldwide, according to Amazon.
Measured over the same opening period, Prime Video says that made Off Campus the third most-watched debut season in the service's history, behind only The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Fallout.
Among women aged 18 to 34, Amazon says it was the platform's biggest series debut ever.
A speculative renewal has therefore become a franchise-development problem instead: how quickly can Prime turn one successful season into a repeatable format?
The new cast is already planting material for whatever comes next
Antonio Cipriano returns as John Logan, while Jalen Thomas Brooks remains John Tucker. Khobe Clarke is back as Beau Maxwell and Steve Howey as Phil Graham.
India Fowler joins as Grace Ivers, whose importance goes well beyond being a new supporting character. In Kennedy's novels, Grace and Logan lead The Mistake.
Phillipa Soo plays Scarlett, a guest artist directing a production at Briar University, while Shay Rudolph joins as Dean's sister Summer Di Laurentis.
Grace's presence gives the series an obvious future pathway without requiring Prime Video to announce a third season today.
This is exactly the kind of property streaming platforms like to scale
Kennedy's main Off-Campus series contains five novels, with additional connected books extending the universe. Her work has sold more than ten million copies and reached readers in over twenty-five languages.
For television, that means Amazon does not need to invent an entirely new premise every year. The production can preserve Briar University, the hockey team, returning friendships and familiar locations while moving romantic emphasis from one pairing to another.
That efficiency also fits Prime Video's wider push into YA and romance adaptations, alongside properties such as Maxton Hall and Boys of Tommen.
Off Campus is simply further along the process because the audience has already arrived.
The same creative team is continuing the experiment
Louisa Levy and Gina Fattore remain co-creators, co-showrunners and executive producers. Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and James Seidman executive produce for Temple Hill, alongside Leanna Billings and Neal Flaherty.
Levy said earlier in 2026 that all eight Season 2 scripts had been written. The new update confirms that the project has now moved firmly into production.
Prime Video has not attached a release window to the season.
The difficult part is proving viewers came for more than Hannah and Garrett
Season 1 had a clean sales pitch. It adapted The Deal and placed Hannah and Garrett at the center of almost every piece of marketing.
Season 2 needs to demonstrate that viewers will accept the spotlight moving elsewhere without feeling as though the show they liked has been replaced.
Keeping the original leads in the ensemble while expanding Dean and Allie's material is the cautious version of that transition.
With production already underway and one of Prime Video's biggest debut audiences behind it, Off Campus has moved past the question of whether Amazon has another YA hit. The new question is whether Briar University can keep producing them.
