Reacher Season 4 is approaching the end of its weekly run. Prime Video launched the first three episodes together on August 12, followed them with weekly installments, and released Episode 6 on September 2. Episode 7 follows on September 9, with the finale scheduled for September 16.
Gone Tomorrow gives Season 4 another mostly fresh supporting cast
The current story adapts Lee Child's thirteenth Jack Reacher novel, Gone Tomorrow. A chance encounter with a distressed stranger on a Philadelphia subway pulls Reacher into a case involving a missing flash drive and several groups willing to kill for whatever is stored on it.
Alan Ritchson remains the show's constant, while most of the people surrounding him are new. Season 4 adds Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Anggun, Chris Marquette, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, Kevin Corrigan and Kathleen Robertson to the cast.
That turnover has become part of Reacher's television identity. Each book sends its protagonist somewhere new, and the adaptation has largely preserved the idea that the people around him can change dramatically between investigations.
September 16 is a franchise transition, not just a finale
Prime Video is using the Season 4 finale to launch the next branch of the property. All eight episodes of Neagley arrive on September 16 immediately after Reacher completes its weekly schedule.
Maria Sten returns as Frances Neagley, Reacher's former Army colleague and one of the few supporting characters to recur across multiple seasons. The spinoff follows her work as a private investigator in Chicago after the suspicious death of someone from her past sends her into a new case.
Alan Ritchson will guest star as Reacher. Nick Santora, who developed Reacher for television, created the spinoff with Nicholas Wootton.
Prime Video is building beyond a single successful show
The scheduling makes Amazon's intention unusually visible. Neagley is ready to launch before Season 4 has even finished, and Reacher itself has already been renewed for Season 5.
There is a straightforward commercial reason to move quickly. Amazon says Season 3 reached 54.6 million viewers worldwide during its first 19 days, making it the service's most-watched season over that time window since Fallout Season 1.
Season 5 will adapt Make Me, the twentieth Jack Reacher novel. Its story takes Reacher to Mother's Rest, where he joins a private investigator searching for a missing person and uncovers a wider criminal conspiracy.
The next Reacher cast is already taking shape
Amanda Ip will play Michelle Chang, with Jay Baruchel joining as Chief Buck Bauer, Ciara Bravo as Eunice and Kevin Durand as Nokes. Ritchson will again lead the season as Reacher.
Prime Video has not announced a Season 5 premiere date. The nearer schedule is fixed: another Reacher episode on September 9, then the Season 4 finale and all eight episodes of Neagley on September 16.
