Archer — Fourteen Seasons of Turning the World's Worst Coworkers Into Great Comedy
Archer was not uniformly brilliant for fourteen seasons, and that is almost the most interesting thing about it: whenever its machinery threatened to become routine, the show tried moving the entire playing field. Vice, Dreamland, Danger Island and 1999 did not all reach the level of its best years, but they reveal a comedy unwilling to repeat the same spy missions forever. What barely changes is what matters most: an exceptional voice cast, awful but meticulously constructed characters, and dialogue capable of turning an office meeting into precision combat. Its final stretch recaptures enough of that energy to give the ensemble a farewell worthy of its history. Uneven across its enormous lifespan, but remarkably difficult to replace.
