Insomniac’s Wolverine does not want to replay his origin or imitate Hugh Jackman

Adapting Wolverine in 2026 means confronting an unusual problem: for a large part of the audience, the character already has Hugh Jackman's face and voice. Insomniac is deliberately moving elsewhere, not by retelling how Wolverine was created, but by presenting an established Logan whose missing memories, anger and relationships with other mutants form the center of the story.

Marvel's Wolverine Understands Logan Better Than the Story It Traps Him Inside

By Vever

Marvel's Wolverine has a real Logan, anchored by Liam McIntyre and relationships that give his brutality meaning. What it has less consistently is a great Wolverine story: the central conspiracy is familiar and the future franchise architecture is occasionally too visible. The character makes a strong case for returning even when the plot does not.

PROS

Liam McIntyre establishes a convincing new Logan
Jean Grey, Mystique and the supporting cast strengthen the best scenes
The mutant setting works well when focused on relationships

CONS

Central plot is too conventional
The second half can become confusing
