Prime Video ended one Reacher run and started another on the same day. A week later, Samba TV's chart has Reacher at No. 1 for a sixth consecutive week and Neagley entering directly behind it.
Jack Reacher no longer has to carry his entire television universe by himself. Prime Video has released all eight episodes of Neagley, moving Maria Sten's longtime supporting character into the lead and testing whether one of Amazon's biggest action properties can expand beyond the man whose name built it.
Neagley proves the essential point in its first season: Maria Sten never needed Alan Ritchson standing beside her to remain interesting. Frances is actually at her best when the series focuses on her investigative method, her resistance to accepting help and the accidental team forming around her. What is still missing is equal confidence in that difference. By borrowing Reacher's pacing, conspiratorial machinery and several of its narrative habits, the spin-off sometimes reduces its strongest idea to a variation on an existing formula. Solid, efficient and frequently gripping, this debut case mainly makes the prospect of a second season appealing if it is willing to become more distinctly Neagley.
