MobLand returned on September 18 with the Harrigan family in considerably worse shape than when the series began. Tom Hardy is back as fixer Harry Da Souza, caught once again between Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, played by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.

The unusual part is what Paramount+ did before viewers had even seen the new episodes. On September 3, the streamer formally ordered Season 3 and confirmed that Hardy, Brosnan and Mirren would return.

Paramount+ made the decision early

Streaming renewals often turn into waiting games built around completion rates, viewing numbers and several weeks of silence. MobLand avoided that stage entirely this time. Its third season was secured before Season 2 premiered.

There is a fairly obvious business reason. When Paramount+ renewed the show for Season 2 in June 2025, it said the first season had reached 26 million viewers and described MobLand as its second most-watched original series at the time, behind Landman. Those are Paramount's own audience figures, rather than independently published measurements, but they make the early vote of confidence considerably less mysterious.

Season 2 contains ten episodes, released weekly on Fridays through November 20.

The Harrigan empire is no longer particularly stable

Paramount's setup for the new season has the family moving toward internal war while outside rivals notice the weakness. Harry remains the fixer expected to stop every disagreement from becoming a catastrophe, a job description that is getting less realistic by the episode.

The premiere, I Wanna Be Your Dog, immediately leaves Harry dealing with the fallout from Maeve and Conrad's actions. Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon and Mandeep Dhillon also return.

Season 2 adds new threats before Season 3 gets moving

Johnny Flynn joins as Frankie Cooper, a London drug lord positioned as a new enemy for the Harrigans. Ophelia Lovibond plays investigator Kavanaugh, providing the family with a threat that does not come from another criminal operation.

Janet McTeer and Toby Jones are among the other additions to the ensemble. Paramount+ has therefore committed to another season before this expanded group has even had time to settle into the current one.

MobLand is becoming a long-term Paramount+ bet

That early renewal changes the context around the second season. MobLand is no longer waiting to prove that it deserves another run after every finale; Paramount+ is planning beyond the episodes currently on screen.

What it has not announced is just as straightforward. There is no confirmed production date or release window for Season 3 yet. For now, the guarantee is simply that Harry Da Souza and the Harrigans will survive on Paramount+'s schedule beyond November.
