The margin was remarkably small. Spider-Man: Brand New Day ended its fourth weekend at roughly $854.9 million domestically. Monday's business added around $3.4 million, enough to carry the film past Avengers: Endgame's approximately $858.3 million lifetime North American total.

Brand New Day now stands at roughly $858.4 million. The ranking uses nominal grosses rather than inflation-adjusted ticket sales.

This is now Sony's biggest domestic release

The milestone also extends a studio record. Brand New Day had already passed Spider-Man: No Way Home to become Sony's highest-grossing film in North America.

Its opening weekend did most of the early damage. The film launched with approximately $360.1 million domestically, setting a new opening record before beginning the normal process of weekly decline.

The second weekend fell by about 60 percent and the third by roughly 51 percent. Those would be significant drops for almost any release, but Brand New Day had accumulated such a large first-week total that even ordinary declines kept pushing it rapidly through the all-time chart.

Star Wars is still nearly $80 million away

The remaining target is Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. Its 2015 domestic run finished at approximately $936.7 million.

That leaves Brand New Day around $78 million short at the moment it overtakes Endgame. The gap is no longer absurd for a movie still playing widely, but passing it is not guaranteed. Daily grosses will continue shrinking as theaters reallocate screens to September releases.

A finish above $900 million now looks much more realistic than it did before release. Reaching $936.7 million requires substantially more endurance.

Endgame is not actually finished adding money

There is another wrinkle in the ranking. Disney is returning Avengers: Endgame to theaters on September 25 as Avengers: Endgame - Encore, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday in December.

That rerelease can add to Endgame's domestic lifetime gross. With only a narrow gap separating the two films today, second place could technically move again.

Brand New Day still has several weeks to create more distance before Encore arrives.

The worldwide total is already above $2.2 billion

Domestic records are only part of the scale. Brand New Day crossed $2.2 billion worldwide during its fourth weekend and has become the biggest global release of 2026.

It also reached $1 billion worldwide at exceptional speed, reinforcing how unusually front-loaded its theatrical demand was across multiple markets.

Sony now has a Spider-Man movie sitting between Avengers: Endgame and The Force Awakens on the North American chart. The remaining question is whether it stays between them.
